Old trees make a million movements
below a monochrome sky:
palm of God
a green television static,
fury of neurons in panic.

Clouds billow in opposition,
chlorophyll trickles, branches twitch;
a beetle realights,
wings trill a minute, staccato.
Miles away another beetle does the same
& another.
