FUTURIST FLOWERS- Giacomo Balla

1.

Sex ship
            four-pronged
                        fuschia
                        shibboleth
            like a clock of need
                        transportive
                        the litter of the stars’
            spit drips
                        on the landing
                                    pad
                                                take me there
with you

2.

                        Kapow
for the heart tree
            the green falls
            like a man
            like a poison
dart frog in
            the war
                        of its shadow—
a sheaf of nasty
            A’s

3.

Shivering candelabra
            sweats a balm
a rude candy
            sconce
a saw of sugar
            rips the plain
            evening
                        what has burned
roughed up
            by puckering ice

4.

The palm shields
            this firey nakedness
like a government
            a cup with a point
the salt of dry lips
            history &
                        honesty
            the tongue taste
                        of a knife
edge

5.

            Uncertain staff
the night of
            a slept-through
day
            the backwards
                        figure
bows or strikes

6.

            A mothering
                        lollipop
fans
            the humped-up
            beads
it sits in the belly

            gesso

                        a thousand years

7.

            An idea
                        a scoriation

the sitting Buddha

                        sells you
                                    carbohydrates

8.

A tree of explosions
            all the white
            destiny
                        the fruit in quadrants
                        like a land
war propped up
            on the mace
of a rocket
            certain feet
a crown of morning
                        stars

9.

            Two fates
                        like a parliament
what it shades
            what it buries
                        the middle

                                    is a funny wand

10.

            The terror
                        of the mother
                                    seed
a sailor’s star
                        coming
            on unidentified
a pinwheel
            like a god
that god
            who forgets you

as sure as it moves on
            a tired trooper

in the square for dancing
